What sound equipment is required by length?
From 12 m a whistle, from 20 m also a bell, from 100 m also a gong. Under 12 m, any means of making an efficient sound signal.

12 m or more: a whistle. 20 m or more: a whistle and a bell. 100 m or more: also a gong whose tone cannot be confused with the bell. Bell and gong may be replaced by equivalent equipment, but manual sounding must always remain possible.
